Moab

I'm in the middle of editing 2 weddings and a family portrait session so in the meantime I thought I would give you something new to look at.

On one of my weekends off in May, we (my husband, son and I) along with 3 of our friends decided to camp in Moab, Utah for the weekend and do some trails with our Jeeps. Call me a geek, but I am now totally in love with taking my Jeep out on trails and am looking for ways we can go out again soon! Anyway, on the Saturday we were there, we decided to do the White Rim Trail. Not only was it the perfect time of year to do the trail, but it also meant something to my father and I wanted to see it as well.

The view from the trail head -- from here, you take switchbacks down about 1,000 feet. Since I couldn't stand the thought of being in the passenger seat for it and not having "control"... my sweet hubby let me take the wheel down. I ended up driving the entire trail to Hardscrabble. :)

Photobucket

This tree is at the middle of Hardscrabble bottom surrounded by the river and tall cliffs. You could actually hear the "silence" when the wind stopped and feel the crackling heat of the day. I know God was there.

I'll be back in the next day or so to give you more two more weddings and a fun family session!! :) Oh, and I don't recommend camping with a 2 year old in a tent in case you were thinking about it. :)

Wedding Albums

I am beginning to offer these albums in my wedding packages. If you're all about displaying your wedding photos (i.e., putting it on the coffee table for your guests to see), this album is for you. Here's Aubrey and Kurtis' album that just arrived.

A very pretty linen holder.

Photobucket

A leather cover in a variety of colors. Aubrey and Kurtis chose the black leather, 20 page album.

Photobucket

The pages are seriously thick. 2mm thick to be exact. :)

One of the best things about this book... the pages lie flat. So you can have a photo go across the spread and not worry about the binding of the book getting in the way.

A BIG thanks to Nicholas at Edge One Solutions for the album design.

partner with me to help them

The last week or so I have been thinking of this family and on Sunday their little girl when home to be with the Lord. My heart aches because my son is just a little older than Cora... and I just can't imagine.

Her parents want to build a playground in memory of her and I want to partner with you to help them get it done!

The last week in February my schedule is wide open and I want to fill it with shoots. For $125 I will do your photo shoot (engagements, family, babies, newborn, maternity... whatever!) and all the proceeds will go directly to this family. For you, that will include a full set of 4x6 prints, a CD with all the edited photos as well as the copyright to the photos.

If you've been wanting to do a shoot, but haven't... now is the time. It goes to something good. :)

Send me an email megan@meganhardrephotography.com (the sooner, the better) if you want to set up a time the last week in February to get 'em done. :)

MHP = Photography AND Wedding Planning

It's here. The day my business partner Edi and I have been talking about for months. We've planned, discussed, took notes, conference calls, etc... and it's here. What am I talking about? Megan Hardre Photography now has a new addition and it's wedding planning.

About a year ago, I envisioned expanding my business to incorporate wedding planning. I knew I wanted to have it available for couples planning their wedding and because after shooting so many weddings, I have experienced the difference a wedding planner can make. However, I didn't really know where to go from there. So, I prayed and I prayed for a next step. Towards the end of last year, Edi, who was then my second shooter at weddings and my right hand approached me about something like I mentioned above and it was such an answer to prayer.

So, here we are. I will continue to capture your treasured moments with my camera and Edi is available to assist you in the details of your special day.

Please be sure to check out our new website here: MHP

And check out her blog here: Edi's Wedding Planning

We always love comments, so let us know what you think!

Megan Hardre Photography is EXPANDING!

I hope everyone has been enjoying the first few weeks of 2009! We've been super busy here getting ready to launch my newly designed website, blog and also a business expansion! I can't wait to tell you what it's all about -- but I want it to be done before I let it all out! :) All that will be up within the next week so keep checking back.

And, since a post isn't really a post without a photo, I'll leave you with a few photos I took of a family here in the springs right after Christmas.

You'd laugh if you saw me trying to get all the kids looking in my direction at the same time. Good times. :)

beyond the 4x6

I give a fully edited CD with the copyright for all my packages so I rarely get requests for reprints. However, recently I've been playing around with other options to offer you guys and I had fun with these photos on mats. The ones shown below are 11x14 in size on a black hard foam core and I LOVE how they turned out. I couldn't post these before Christmas because they were gifts for our good friends Holly and Nick... and I couldn't chance her seeing them on the blog. However... here they are.

I put them on an easel but you could also frame these and they'd still look great. I like how they added a bit of variety from the typical "framed photo" when on the easel.

Photobucket

They come in smaller sizes too and the photo below shows just how thick they are. Love it!

Anyway, just thought I would share these with you! They are always available to order and fun to give as a gift or keep for yourself. :)

I hope you had a great Christmas. We sure missed having our families around this year, so it was quieter than normal, but wonderful nonetheless. Wishing you an awesome beginning to 2009!

wrapping up a year.

Now that wedding season is over for the year for me, I've been taking some time to focus on a few things within MHP including new wedding albums coming out at the beginning of the year (I think you'll love them!) as well as an expansion project happening at MHP. I'm super excited for the New Year, all the awesome weddings coming up as well as the big announcement I'll be making in the next week or so.

AND, what's a post without a photo? Here's some of the awesome friends we've made in the last year since we've lived here. This was taken at our Christmas party a week or so ago.

I hope you and yours have a blessed Christmas! :)

2009 Weddings

I just want to take a moment and say what awesome clients I have. I really love what I do. It's the people I get to meet each day that makes it what it is. 2008 has been an awesome year and although it's not over yet, I'm beginning to look to 2009 and all it's going to bring. I've met with some very cool brides and grooms in the past few months to book their weddings and I am so excited! There are going to be some great weddings! :)

If you're still in the 'planning' stages, some dates go very quickly. If you're set on a specific date, book sooner than later so another couple doesn't grab that date!

Here's the 2009 weddings booked thus far:

January 31: Aubrey & Kurtis
February 21: Julie & Jeremy
March 28: Erin & Steven
May 28: Christine & Ryan
June 13th: Katie & Austin
June 26th: Dana & Robby
June 28th: Bonni & Adam
July 2nd: Jayla & Kyle
July 4: Meara & Daniel
August 8: Angela & Christopher
September 19: Lauren & Andy

And a big THANK YOU to all of my clients for making 2008 such a wonderful year. I couldn't do it without you. :)
